Alright, so I didn't write last week

Mon, Apr 10

Last week we switched our pday to go to the temple and the temples far away so i didn't write an email

I would recommend you guys go. its fire.

after the session we just hung out at the temple grounds as a district we played mafia, met one of the singers for the portuguese youth music by the church, witch was actually really cool, she sang for us and she is an incredible singer Nicole luz, it actually blew my mind to hear such amazing singing without anything digital no microphone nothing just her in front of us singing its better in real life, best singing i've ever heard, in english or portuguese, she also speaks perfect english, she is an incredible singer and she's super nice, just chillin at the temple

imma be real nothing really happened the week i didn't write, but this week was cool,

last week or two weeks ago i was supposed to mention something about spiders, some of you may have noticed a really funny meme of the duck story that i told a few weeks ago, and then the end with the spider, anyways i had mentioned that there are tons of spiders and i hate spiders, well i had found out a new way to deal with them, then arent scared of me cause they live in my house, but i do know what they are scared of, FIRE, we have a big long stick that ive been putting oil on then lighting on fire using it as a torch walking around our house lighting spiders on fire, i probably was killing at least 15 a day, and ive learned a lot about spiders because of it every spider but one i killed is scared of fire they instantly start running from fire, the webs light on fire really fast, some spiders incinerate into nothing like one leg gets hit by the fire and the fire just continues and takes the hole body over almost instantly, some spiders melt, others pop, Some of them the heat of the fire kills and they drop to the ground dead without even being touched by the flame and one of the spiders (the biggest one) tried to fight back rather than run it lost its legs to the fire, from my experience the bigger the spider the less afraid it its, but its been about a week and a half since ive seen a spider in our house maybe they are afraid now!

my comp Elder Garces-Diaz  had taught a guy who wanted to get baptized before i showed up in the area, but the guy had to get married first because he was living with a member, and they didn't really seem like they were gonna get married so we stopped teaching them, right when i got in the area, but on monday they told us they got married so when can i get baptized, so we taught him (Divino) the rest of the stuff he needed to know, to get him all prepared for baptism,

after we went to the temple we had an exchange with our district leader and his comp the only elder from Portugal, they have crazy different Portuguese it's a different language, it was a fun exchange while i was in the streets with my district leader, we were just knocking doors that the missionaries in the past had taught before but stopped teaching, we had zero success after multiple hours of knocking but at least something interesting happened, a guy crossed our path on a bike and he crossed our path on a really slow cruising speed, and as he really slloooowly past us his gaze totally locked onto me and his mouth open jaw dropped says to me as he passes slowly towards my left whooa youur realllly beauutiful, (voce é muito linda) he was probably drunk idk i just said thank you and continued walking to the next door,

some other highlights of the exchange was when i beat Elder Garces-Diaz in speed so he had to do all the dishes,

and when me and my district leader saw some Jdubs in the street with a stand, and we both really wanted to talk to the Jdubs, because both of us really wanted to understand their beliefs better, and really wanted a Jdub bible just because it would be funny, they told us we could only find their beliefs on their website, but we talked and gave each other pamphlets, they said that there magazines and the book titled you can understand the bible (Você pode entender a bíblia) were free so i took the i can understand the bible book, and now I'm studying it because its good portuguese practice and something to read, and I'm marking truths in green highlighter in the book and false truths in pink highlighter and its been really fun understanding and learning about their belief's, I messed up with my goal to get a Jdub bible because when they asked me if i had a bible my gut reaction was say yes, when really i didnt have one because i left it in Campinas on accident, we had a cool conversation with them about how we are living in the last days and Jesus is coming soon and we all need to be disciples of Jesus Christ, my comp pointed to the church the Jdubs we standing in front of with their stand and asked them if it was their church, they didnt seem very happy my comp asked them if the church was theirs, and told us it was a catholic church

Someone broke into our church this week, hopped the fence broke a window, then broke a different window to get in, they must be really skinny because the width of the whole they crawled through is smaller than the length of my hand, he didn't find anything to steal, just some lights, he broke some stuff though...

ive been drinking a bunch of what is called Tereré but i think Grass water is more appropriate, idk every missionary likes it, it's better with juice instead of water, they have different flavors of this grass, for example the drink tastes like the juice or the water, with a tinge of Lime or whatever flavor and a flavor of grass and dirt, it's basically just tea in its simplest form, grass water, don't worry its not against the word of wisdom i checked

On Saturday we had the Baptism of Divino!!! he's awesome, Elder Garces-Diaz baptized him, it was a really cool and fun baptism,

one thing that was cool is i played the piano at the baptism I've gotten a lot better at the piano this week, I've always been able to plink out the notes of any song i hear or know, but like it would just be one note at a time of the melody, but this week i learned how to do it with the left hand making up a supporting harmony with it, which i'd never been able to do until now so that was really cool, I've also gotten a lot better at reading the notes and sight reading which ive almost never been able to do with any instrument, Elder Garces-Diaz was trying to tune his ukulele and was having trouble, and i said i bet i can do it, and i tuned it, I still got my tuning skills i learned from orchestra so that was cool too, i also learned this week Ukulele is a fun instrument to learn and play too!

Tomorrow is transfers and for the first time I'm not going to the center of Campinas to get a new comp. Elder Garces-Diaz is my first comp to stay with me for more than one transfer! I'll be staying here in Jagauriuna with him, idk if we will still have the area of amparo hopefully they open the area because it has so much potential,

yesterday Grazi who we baptized came into the church and spoke to my parents for like 5 seconds, she said my mom is really beautiful, and her and her husband said i look just like my parents ( Igualzinho) they came over to the church because i told her husband Vando that i like the Hot dogs of the united states better and he wanted to prove me wrong, they brought us Brazilian hot dogs Bun, two hot dogs sausage, bacon, tomato, corn, mashed potatoes, a little bit of ketchup, all on this hotdog, and honestly it was better than our hot dogs in the us, which for some doesn't sound like much but i really like hot dogs, Jdawgs, but this was better, they also brought us a bunch of candy and talked to Elder Garces-diaz's mom in Spanish and make her cry with this epic act of kindness bringing us food, Grazi said ( in Spanish and i understood which was dope) that we helped her in a really really really hard time in her life, and that god through us changed her heart, and now she's "paying us back" by giving us food, and her favorite candies, she also said Garces was fat, and has the face of someone who really loves food (no chill) i asked he if i have the same face, and she said no, i then said she should have met me back when i weighed 16 kilos more, and that i really love food, really the moral of the story though is that missionary work is really amazing where i get to be a tool in gods hand to change peoples hearts, and help them find joy they didn't know existed, and I'm super grateful to be a part of this work, and to be able to see how its changing and making a difference
