Just a good busy week

 Mon, Apr 17

  •  This week was the most successful week we've had or I’ve had in the whole mission as far as numbers go, we had the most lessons and most new people and most in person lessons that I’ve ever had, so that was pretty cool,

  • we taught one sister who was a reference from a member, it was a really awesome lesson with other members who helped out a lot, and we even made the goal with her to get baptized on the 19th of April, so be praying for sister Teresa for us, it was the third time we taught her in person and the last time we had taught her we brought two other elders with us, and this time we said we would bring two other members with us, and she did not know what that meant so she made food for six people when we only showed up in four, we finished the lesson at like 8 o'clock at night and she starts bringing out a ton of rice and beans and noodle and meat, that my comp is claiming is ox meat, it was so much food, and the members were like you guys need to eat more, so we ate a ton of food that night and also took a ton home,

  • I'm getting a lot better at the piano so that's cool

  • today we went go get haircuts for pday with Grazi and Vando, it was fun just talking to them, Grazi sat down in a chair that was weak, then she started to talk about how there's a right was to sit down in it, then called Garces fat by saying imagine what would happen if Garces sat down in the chair, on the walk back home Garces said "Brother Cunha lives here" but i guess he mispronounced it because to them they thought he said "there is marijuana over there"

  • This week we also had two other lessons with Vando and Grazi. We have taught Vando everything and he believes in the Book of Mormon but he doesn't understand why he has to get baptized again, So any help would be appreciated, Pray for Vando!

  • we also taught a guy who speaks and teaches English, It was really really really interesting teaching in English, he had already been taught 9 months ago by past missionaries, and he has a lot of questions, he told us his biggest interest is the plan of salvation because he feels like we should all be saved without having to do anything like getting baptized, but doesn't understand that because of Jesus and the resurrection we all are saved, but also doesn't understand how we can all be saved but not all go the celestial kingdom, he also doesn't understand how the book of Mormon and the bible can exist together, what's interesting was talking about differences in the "Gospel" that we believe in he said the majority of his beliefs differences come from 1st Corinthians so when we went home i decided to start studying 1st Corinthians, verse by verse, I’ve been going with every verse reading it then writing down the gospel truths from each verse I’ve done this with the first 4 chapters now, and its been super super interesting, because 1st Corinthians is letters from paul written to the members of the church in Corinth? i don't remember where, but just going one verse at a time then writing the gospel truths from each verse was super rewarding and i actually learned a lot in regards to his questions, 1st Corinthians is actually super cool because it talks about the three kingdoms of glory and baptisms for the dead, one thing i thought was cool was paul describing how all of us in the church need to be united in christ, and build together on Christs foundation, and we have to choice to build with either gold or silver or wood or hay or dirt, and that it will be tested by fire, if it stays we will have our reward, but if it falls, a part of the reward is taken but all of us are saved, its such a perfect response to this mans question, we have to choice to live our lives in gold silver or dirt, and we will be tested and in the end judged for how we live our lives, and then we will have our reward, but in the end we are all saved, Paul says in chapter 9 that all the runners in a race run, not all of them get the prize, I'm excited to keep studying 1st Corinthians in this way,

  • other than teaching in English for the first time that's all that really happened this week other than work

  • we had one lesson with a person who asked for a book of Mormon, we went and taught her the restauration with a member, they had an incredibly cute puppy, and her mom is super catholic, and she asked us what the name of our church was 5 times, like asked me then right after asked elder Garces, then the member then me again and then elder Garces, she looks 70 but then told us she's 91 which really threw me off

  • we had one lunch with members who had there non baptized son over, and they really wanted us to give a bomb message, and it was, here's the gist of it,

  • Spiritual grown is like a tree its starts as a tiny seed and that's all you need, it doesn't become like a tree in one day, or one week, I'm at the point where my spiritual goals would have seemed impossible to me from where i was at before the mission but now they seem totally reachable, and sometimes it seems like its impossible to start on spiritual growth witch is where true happiness is found, in the end everything else fails, but so many people choose to start the journey because the mountain looks to high to climb, how can i be a tree when I'm simply a tiny seed, its really simple and super easy, just water it, it takes almost no energy, its not a bucket a day, but one drop at a time, i cant dump a swimming pool of water onto a seed and expect it to grow all at once, even though overtime it will need and use even more than this swimming pool of water, it needs to come one drop at a time, A Great Change of Heart doesn't happen all at once but over time, and all of us are capable of becoming great Redwood trees if we let ourselves grow, why halt any of our potential when in the end nothing else matters in the end, and true happiness is found in the gospel, i know its true because I'm seeing it everyday here in the mission em nome de Jesus Cristo amén
